Good news for the touring professionals contesting 2025’s race for the FedEx Cup: the winner’s share is being increased from $25 million to $175 million.
FedEx Senior VP for Marketing, Dee Lever, explained that the TV ratings for Scottie Scheffler’s 2024 victory were a bit disappointing. “We were hoping for a much larger share of the viewing audience as we weren’t up against the regular season NFL programming. I guess paying out $25 million to the winner wasn’t exciting enough, so we decided to boost the winner’s purse by $150 million to attract more eyeballs. In addition, this is a great opportunity to stick it to UPS, who’ve got to have the ugliest uniforms I’ve ever seen. Puke-brown? C’mon, gimme a break!”
In other news, FedEx announced that its 2025 shipping rates (see accompanying chart) will see a “small increase” to help defray the cost of the $175 million FedEx Cup prize.
