During the first round of the 2026 Masters, Robert MacIntyre dunked two balls into the pond fronting the 15th hole. MacIntyre’s reaction was to flip the bird to the inanimate body of water. A quadruple bogey ensued and MacIntyre would go on to miss the cut. He then posted — and soon removed — an AI-generated video of a grumpy “MacGnome” re-flipping said bird, according to The Augusta Chronicle.

MacIntyre’s behavior drew immediate reactions from the golf world:
- “If this occurred at one of our tournaments, we would chop off that infidel’s finger.” — Hassan el-Scimitar, LIV Golf Director of Chop-Chop
- “We’re excited to see Bob looking cool and calm in his Nike Wickety-Wick Performance golf shirt, available in sizes S-XL!” — Dawn Polo, Nike Intl. Merch VP
- “Fire burn and cauldron bubble/Bobby Mac’s in big-time trouble.” — The Three Witches from Macbeth
- “No haggis for YOU!” — The Haggis Nazi
- “Somebody needs to take this kid aside and explain to him the responsibilities of being a professional golfer. Like it or not, we are role models and kids look up to us. That’s why we should always strive to represent golf in the best light possible. That’s how you grow the game.” — Sergio Garcia
