Wedges & Wooly Willy

Wedge Grinders of America (WGA) today announced a new partnership with Wooly Willy, an iconic toy enjoyed by children since 1955.

WGA president Lyman Lauft said: “We are excited to enter into this strategic relationship with Wooly Willy which will provide our membership with an ongoing premium outlet for the metal shavings created by wedge grinding. Heretofore, these shavings were swept off the floor and sold to dog food manufacturers at an incremental loss. We were thrilled when Wooly Willy contacted us, inquiring if we’d be interested in supplying them with magnetic material for their beloved toy. Our members jumped at the prospect and immediately threw their aprons in the air and shouted ‘Yes!’ Speaking for myself, I’m more than excited about this deal because I’ve been playing with my Willy for as long as I can remember.”

Wooly Willy Senior VP for Mergers & Magnets E. Forster Macomber IV was equally effusive about the partnership with WGA: “We’re proud — and excited — to join forces with the Wedge Grinders of America, the pre-eminent membership organization for this country’s Master wedge grinders. By utilizing the shavings from the golf industry’s most venerable wedge manufacturers, we believe that Wooly Willy is uniquely positioned to increase market share in the toy industry. Going forward, we are confident that we have devised a robust game plan that is both strategic and organic.”

“Knowing that wedge shavings will no longer be used in dog food removes much of the guilt our members have experienced over the years,” said WGA president Lauft. “And because it’s for a good cause — helping kids have fun with Wooly Willy — we believe that our members will be more aggressive in upselling more frequent wedge grinding … say, once or twice a week.”
